heyhey! had a great day today!! :)
day started off with huishan coming over after her interview at awfully chocolate, and us having the absolutely delicious xia mian from telok kura area... yummy!! after tt, headed to town to do some great sg sale shopping.. parked at cathay - had to wait ridiculously long to get into e carpark. i presume its cuz its like $2 per entry, and if u wanna get some serious shopping done, u've gotta stay in town for quite long, hence, e need for per entry parking! ;)
after we finally got in, we went to ben's n jerry's where hs treated me to a sundae! gotta try new flavors like black raspberry and berryberrydelicious! its was supercaliouslydelicious! :) haha. there were quite a few med pple there i met.. think its an anat grp? sabrina, todd, christine, marcus, marc etc... e ongs and ons of e world! ;)
off we went to marina square after tt to SHOP! woo.. ok, i didn't buy much.. cuz apparently, my clothes cupboard is bursting, and i dun really have tt much to buy as of now.. ;) but after much persuasion, i was made to try on this green top from topman, and it was quite nice, and since i didn't have much green stuff in my wadrobe, i bought it.. haha. and with hs's citibank supp card, i got additional 10% discount off e 30% discount, so its freaking cheap! >.< hs bought quite a lot more.. collected her pants tt she reserved, as well as some other top she had tried b4 tt.. but on e whole, we didn't quite buy a lot cuz e stuff, not so nice in most shop this time round somehow.. :P after tt, nick joined us, and hs left shortly after she went to this photo shop. after NUMEROUS phonecalls to her sis, 1 confirming e memory card, another reagarding e spare battery, then another abt e disposable camera.. she finally bought e stuff she required! ;)
after all tt shopping, i hung ard with nick at suntec, looking at his sword shop.. quite a nice collection of mystical weapons they have there.. ;) and then arcade, where i watched someone finish house of e dead 4 without needing extra credit.. quite amazing. think u need to know e game rather well.. e ending is quite crap :X
after much more walking abt, met up with gary and alwyn for dinner.. had subway.. cheaper food ;) then went carrefour, cuz e other 2 still so hungry. erps.. then went down to indoor stadium and met up with shihong to watch.... ....
tickets courtersy of gary's aunt.. music is v retro.. but good. overall, e fun factor of this musical is v high, energy level is damn high too.. and i liked e part where they used black costumes for e 2 main characters to highlight them in e midst of e colorful others. contrast to e usual use of colors to highlight pple... :) so overall, i liked it a lot.. though e plot was kinda lame.. ;)
after our souls were mentally satiated, it was time for our tummies to be filled.. ;) off we went to geylang for tou jiang you tiao, plus xiao long bao and taiwan mian! delicious supper.. yum! i managed to parallel park.. and i was a damn mean driver, i flashed highbeam at some bangas as they were jaywalking, then they never speed up and since i was travelling quite fast and i was hoping not to bang them, i horned a lot of times at them, much to the dismayal of my passengers.. LOL. yeah, dun ever cross me when i'm on e road.. I AM MEAN! muahahaha.
anw, yummy food below, such crispy (n oily) you tiao.. wanna eat e frog porridge and beef kuaytiao too!! ahh.. shall go back there soon! :)
oh.. and i've downloaded office 2007 beta. looks damn good.. below is a screenshot of outlook.. can see how much more crisp and user friendly, and good looking it is.. also have windows media player 11.. tt one is definitely a damn big improvement.. well done! :)

woo.. tired.
lonng lonng day today. haha. nerve wrecking day. started off by driving to pasir ris! whoever invented tt place.. so freaking ulu.. was so unsure when i was trying to drive there to the train station and pick kat, shi and al to go downtown east.
went wild wild wet! woohoo. haha. its just e same few rides.. so boring! but well, the slide up ride was still e funnest.. quite thrilling, but not as much as i first went. guess e fun was the sun, the water and the company! took most of the rides twice.. even the shoik river which went like a slow, it was unshoik!
well, after tt, kat and me headed down to orchard.. tt was the start of a vv long journey. damn.. i took e STUPID SLE e wrong direction.. hmmm, went past hougang, then sengkang, and exited at yio chu kang. like where in e world is tt?! such an ulu place.. erps. so after anyhow driving ard, finally see a sign, CTE. woohoo! we were saved... but such a stupid experience getting lost.. its like aimless driving, just staring at road signs.. arrgh. poor karsien was scared out of his wits. i've a tendency to scare my passengers. hmmm. and after all tt, as i left the car park at nite.. my parking fee was.. 5! i was like &*#$*#$@(. then mich noted, u parked at 4.59! so dumb.. even after cirling around for ages, i just had to be one min early and pay 2 more than the per entry charge of 3 afer 5pm. WHATEVER!
but, after we reached orchard and sat down for icecream.. all was well, as we can see, a happy karsien! ;)after which, an obviously high itkz arrived and happily phoned me, speaking in v 'fluent' mandrin. suddenly i hear a shout, and over the phone comes, 'aiyo! wo cai dian bei che zhuang dao. yin wei wo zai he ni jiang dian hua'.. then, i went to the window, as seen below, and started waving to the pple across the street, much to the amazement of the pple around me. or maybe, they just thought i was weird, cuz they were giving me a really strange, wth are u doing look. and u know, their heads and gazes tail u back from e window to the seat. hmmm. ok, i admit, it was kinda a weird thing to do.. but i was just have fun. haha.
the window:alrite.. after all this was dinner of course.. cheap dinner, thank god. and photowhoring, by our resident photowhore.. tada! guess who she is.. ;)
we then decided not to include her in the pix because she was too colorful while we were more like single colored tees pple. and also of course, because she was being too much of a photowhore ;)

my memory is pathetic. i can't even remember the main characters in a lit book i devoted half a year to. oh boy. maybe tt's why i dun like to read much. what happens after i read the book? in the first place, when i read something, somethings just slip through my mind, i dun even remember seeing things, i just miss details completely. its frustrating. i've not read the lastest harry potter book because i couldn't remember what happened in the previous book, and i didn't wanna re-read it, only to forget b4 i pick up the next book. y y y y...
parking is expensive.. spent 7 today, 7 ytd. its crazy.. i've gotta try to go per entry places though there are few and far between. arrghh.
so there have been RUMOURS (note they are rumours, not truths ;)) circulating ard abt my bad driving.. well, its just the slopes.. dunno why i can't get e biting pt of the car.. otherwise, its fine i think. haha.
pple i heard had myocardial infarcts and what nots sitting behind.. well, wait till u pass and i sit in YR cars! then i'll be the one laughing :P grrr!
watched da vinci code today.. its quite intriguing i must say. tt was despite the fact i had 2nd row from the screen seats, and the screen being so wide, that despite me trying to make my eyeballs turn opposite directions, my eyes still couldn't take in the whole screen at once. well, for once, widely spaced eyes come in handy.
but i found the plot thrilling, and the action quite nicely spaced out.. so yeah, kinda liked it. though the ending i felt, was kinda abrupt. but well, getting used to such endings now adays. seems to be in fashion. well, i've gotta read the book soon, bought it for my sister's bday last year, but never got down to it.
still hating the dean for causing so much problems.

laziness has encroached me... and i can't even write more than 2 sentences. and my screen is making my fonts fuzzy, or maybe, my eyes are unfocused! haha.
anws, match between barca and arsenal was quite dramatic.. and the goals, esp from barca were quite amazing.. scored from impossible angles.. but can't deny tt they were helped by the fact tt their goal keeper got redcarded off so early in e game.. :X
the peaceful game of risk - basically, we were generally pacifists, and dedrick got pissed we were not playing logically.. well, in e end, the world came to a standstill, and peace was restored. it was much like e real world.. ;) middle east was controlled by ian, ruler of the USA.. haha
PDCP has been... barely making sense to say e least. all e pple giving tutorials are such drama mamas.. :/ and yeah, i've no idea what's going on most of e times.. haha. boring!!!
watched 2 movies e past week, L'enfant and MI:3.. both were alrite, but really, not tt great. but for lack of better things to do within sg, anything suffices.. ;)
also, celebrated Al's bday! happy bday!! hope u liked yr present, which i chose! haha, shameless i am. oddly, i realised we have no pix! guess guys are less likely to photowhore... :P
and still hating e dean for messing up plans for NZ.. we're still short of 1 person.. anyone? it'd be fun, promise! no refund though should u not wanna go.. ;)

pleased with the state of my com... slowly but surely, i'm reclaiming space on my hard drive and external hard drive, backing up data... haha. com's getting faster and i like my skin :)
COE bidding for e car was successful! yay... so if all goes well, i'd be able to get a car sometime next week... exciting. its gonna be manual though cuz my mum wanted me to get a manual one, said tt so i wun forget how to drive manual and cuz she thinks i'd be in better control of e car.. pls no traffic jams though! :)
watched MI3 on wed... hmmm, thrash film, but well, i've a think for cool gadgets and fast cars, so it was fun anyways. lol... then, on sunday, watched The Child, a french film, which me and cm concluded, isn't contrived. which probably explained the slightly dull plot.. but i guess, what it lacks in plot, it made up in heart felt acting and a generally well produced film. i got to gobble down a hotdog in abt 2 mins, cuz e picture house doesn't allow food due to the 6000 dollar seats it is furbished with, though oddly, there are cup holdlers between the 'designer suede' seats. haha, the display near the elevators describing the seats and their origin was mildly entertaining. but really, i could get a sofa set for yr seat.
oh, went kboxing, and the interface has changed... looks great, and i like e feature of grouping songs by english singers now (they always had tt for chinese songs)..
had dinner with the dean.. well, he talked quite a bit, and i must say, it was kinda interesting. some of the points he made, which he told e pple there to share:
1] it is impt to network. that is the benefit you have of studying in sg.. you'd be able to know more doctors in the hospitals next time, thus more pple to consult, or ask for help. he actually said we should be on phone basis with 90% of our batch by M5.. haha, dun think so. know 50% of the batch above and below.
2] our facilities are old and dated. the structures are built in 1978, meant for 100+ students only. and he was telling us abt translational medicine. basically it is the development of new drugs, and testing on patients. being as compact as we are, there is a good chance we can cut down testing time compared to overseas (though i doubt out capabilities :x) so our library will be demolished end of the year, replaced with an 11 storey building by 2009 hopefully...
3] weaker students.. he was trying to find out why there are pple struggling, since he thinks tt the intake was more or less equal, and that he could easily have replaced us with other candidates. he said tt there are pple who are always doing badly year after year, and said tt he feels tt perhaps they aren't suited for medicine, and he hates to see talent, that they may have elsewhere go to waste by being stuck in med sch. so he said we should encourage them to quit.
4] he had lots more to say, but yeah, tt was the gist i guess.. he also said we should attempt to feel like doctors, not students.
5] oh yeah, singapore is infamous in the medical and scientific world for the first case of lab contracted SARS. maybe tt should dispell the illusion our government would have us believe- tt we are so advanced technoligically.
here's my take.. intitally, i felt disgusted tt he should ask us to encourage our peers to quit. but after some thought, i guess it is only responsible. i mean, after you graduate, you do become a doctor, and there are pple's lifes in your hands. and if you aren't competent, then you should quit on yr own accord, or perhaps, you have to be encouraged to, and not be selfish abt it. certainly, easier said then done, but in the face of a deficient selection process imposed by the medical sch (come on, we all know it), perhaps we need self filtering now.
i know tt i am, perhaps not a person in a good position to do this, but i would like to critise our healthcare system. i think tt faced with a shortage of doctors, the medical board is possibly, flippantly giving degrees to more pple than they should. not tt i have anything against tt should pple be more competent. but being in the hospitals, as a student, as well as, when my dad was a patient, i can tell you tt the lack of standard is appalling.
there was a houseman who couldn't tell you what u would encounter upon making an incision on yr neck. mind you, it wasn't at any specific point on the neck, just neck in general. i will not go into the details of my dad's case. but whatever it is, the doctors now adays are irresponsible and INCOMPETENT.
if u think our med soc president is bullshitting us, please, think again. would you really feel confident in yr degree if you are not competent? tt his critisms of the system would undermine your degree? or do you think it is worth it to examine the problems at hand, and at least be able to feel confident of your abilities.

hmmmm, my driving license has arrived by mail... :) not a nice photo though... :P
i feel like dying my hair black... i just feel pple in general tend to underestimate yr intelligence should u have dyed hair. sad but its yet another form of discrimination.
i think when i slp more, i tend to think more cuz my mind is alert and hyperactive... and more often than not, these thoughts are morbid and negative... do i have a natural predilection to evil? well, i guess i wun know since society has put a cap on me.
some things of note (note: money spending activities) i've done...
1] watched west side story... hey, it was really good! the music might not have been the best, well, its singapore orchestra, but i liked it. well, not as much as chicago, which is the only other broadway show i've seen, but certainly better than most other musicals i've watched. the song, somewhere is still much loved, well, i've always love it, so. my only gripe was the female lead, maria was singing in a terribly high pitch falsetto most of the time, and i had much difficulty trying to understand what she was singing. the sets were really simple, but well, seems like most productions nowadays are headed tt way. and yeah, i got really great seats :)
2] went settlers, again.. haha
3] played my tennis match on sat... wasted 4 pple's time... sorry u guys actually came down to watch me. i was playing so bad, it was embarrassing... :/ ahh, guess my body was just feeling too exhausted and the drive was not there.. sigh.
4] met up with some sec sch dudes... all still crack me up as usual... ;) i love being amused... :P but yeah, dinner at swensons - after changing locations for much of the afternoon, but finally, we actually made a choice. and we went cinileisure to lan, damn ex... wth, 3.50 an hour... and played CS.. so retro.. ;) i totally sucked at it now adays... as we all noted, amongst the seven of us, it always ended up as fight between nick and zp, so i was perticularly enthralled when i blew zp's brains off a few times later in the game... ;)
5] been looking at cars - interest is a killer. its fixed interest when u purchase cars unfortunately, so it adds up, real fast. and for a low price, there are only v, v few cars to look at. but pple at car showrooms treat u real nice, guess they must get a hefty commission for each one sold.
6] i decided i might actually teach tuition again. well, i better start reading up again, lest the only thing i can do is smile awkwardly when thrown a difficult question.. o.O
7] i dunno why i've so much to say, but i gotta run... so whatever. oh, and i reformatted my com, got rid of all e junk NUS installed on my com. it now runs so much faster, and its really stable.. :)
8] and i watched grey's anatomy at last! i like it... funky stuff. makes me feel like saving lifes.. :)
